Photoatlas of Inclusions in Gemstones, Volume 3, the final volume in the Photoatlas series, is scheduled for release in 2008. Photoatlas, Volume 3 is devoted to two principal topics: inclusions in the major commercial gems (diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds) and inclusions in rare and unusual host materials, such as ekanite and taaffeite.
Photoatlas of Inclusions in Gemstones, Volume 2 was published in 2006. This long-awaited second volume continues the collaboration of Eduard Gübelin and John Koivula on gemstone inclusions. The authors have compiled a monumental text of 829 pages illustrated with over 2200 color photomicrographs. Photoatlas, Volume 2 covers the microscopic world of natural gems, synthetics, and treatments that have exploded onto the market since 1986.
Featuring 11/2 times the number of pages and 40% more color plates than the preceding volume, Photoatlas, Volume 2 features significant updates on the commercially important gems, with essays on microscopy, gemstone inclusion analyses and inclusions within inclusions. Photoatlas, Volume 2 is an indispensible companion volume to Photoatlas, Volume 1. Published by Opinio Verlag Basel; distributed by microWorld of Gems in North America.
